SIP Brief

Revised March 20, 2022

SIP Documentation

This will detail how to run and use the software in its current state

  1. When first installing download the software installer (apk) to an area you can easily find on your phone (I tend to use the root folder of an SD card)

  2. Run the apk and tell it to install. Odds are it won't ask for permissions right now so they must be enabled manually.

  3. If it doesn't ask for permissions then you'll have to go to app settings and allow it to use the camera, the microphone, and the storage. Once those are enabled the software can run properly.

  4. Once in you can go to settings to adjust the audio how you want it to sound.

  5. When starting you can choose to use the camera, audio, microphone, or you can choose any combination of the 3.

Right now I'll have the latest apk uploaded to GitHub as well as source files. This is so others can use part of it for their own projects if they find something that intrigues them.

F.A.Q.s

  • What is the point of allowing access to use the camera, microphone, and storage?

If you don't enable the camera you can't use it for an AR (augmented reality) overlay. If you don't enable the microphone or storage you can't use the audio from the real world as you need to make a recording and save it to the storage (don't worry as it only saves the last few seconds and overwrites it so the data saved is less than 1 MB). If you don't enable storage you can't use the microphone and you can't use distortions as it needs to read the stored data to allow distortions.

  • Can I use part of the app without the others? For example can I use the camera only?

Yes you can.

  • Do I need a modern phone to run the software?

No you don't. Provided you have an Android phone running version 4.4 or higher you can use this software.

  • Why aren't the hallucinations/distortions working?

They are not working as of right now due to my wanting to get the camera, audio, and microphone working properly first. After I get those working properly I will work on finding a way to add in hallucinations and distortions.

  • Is this app going to stay free or are you going to have ads or a paid version?

I am not making this to turn a profit. I am making this to try to bring awareness to the condition of Schizophrenia. I think that if I (or anyone really) were to try and make a profit off this it would be viewed as disgusting and taking advantage of those who truly suffer from the condition.
